Jana Watson is a poet, writer, and folklorist from the Appalachian hills of North Alabama who moved to the New Hampshire seacoast in 2025. Her work explores memory, history, and the stories that become a part of the landscapes we inherit. She is the author of several poems, articles, essays and one children’s book. 

Jana holds a B.A. in English and History from Auburn University and a Graduate Certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University. She formerly served as Program Manager of the Burritt Folk School in Huntsville, Alabama. She was a 2024 Cauthen Fellow with the Alabama Folklife Association and serves on the editorial board for their annual journal, Tributaries.
