Jana Watson is a poet, writer, and folklorist from the Appalachian hills of North Alabama who moved to the New Hampshire seacoast in 2025. Her work explores memory, family, and the stories embedded in the landscapes we inherit. She is the author of several poems, articles, essays and one children’s book.
Jana holds a B.A. in English and History from Auburn University and a Graduate Certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University. She formerly served as Program Manager of the Burritt Folk School in Huntsville, Alabama. She was a 2024 Cauthen Fellow with the Alabama Folklife Association and serves on the editorial board for their annual journal, Tributaries.
